Our ranch house was built with horse riding, family and entertaining in mind. We acquired the property when my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He enjoyed riding with his friends that owned horses and always hoped that he might have his own horse “some day”. When we got the news we decided to go full steam ahead with the plan. We were both sixty and luckily had the resources to fulfill his dream.

The property is now being used for a rental and the collection has been sold, thus the huge price reduction.

Before the construction began we had already purchased old interesting Mexican doors, tiles and decorative items from the interior of Mexico and had them in storage, waiting for our retirement home to be planned. We used vigas (beams) and roof tiles from an old hacienda that had been taken down. We contracted a semi to bring everything to Baja.

At this point we had traveled extensively throughout the corners of Mexico and purchased quite a bit of original collectible pieces that will NOT stay with the house. The chapel /greenhouse holds religious items collected.

Even though the time has come to make other plans, we have continued with the improvements on the property. It has truly been a great experience turning a barren piece of land into a dream home.

This is what the charm of ranch-style living is all about. You cross over the free road to the east side and drive along a tree-lined country road to the Trail Ride Amigos entry gate. Once on the other side of the gate, a whole new scenic horizon opens up to you. Down the lane of this 2 acre+ property, you pass the stables and a copse of trees shading a delightful picnic area. Then you spot the owner-built Mexi-rustic-style home and outbuildings.

This unique home, built in 2012, is 3,200 sq.ft. and two-story. It features a large open Mexican tiled family-style kitchen with dining area, opening to a large living room. Directly off this 'great room' is a house-wide deck that overlooks the riding arena, the valley and the mountains. Downstairs, the first floor features a separate living area with bedroom, bath, bar, recreation room all designed in a "cowboy" theme.

The outbuildings include a bunk room with baths and a tack room.

On a knoll above the home is a recently-finished quaint chapel. It also features a greenhouse to provide flowers for the altar as well as the home.

There are open trails for riding horses all around which provides a small business opportunity, which the owners had recently initiated, called Trail Ride Amigos, but which has not been pursued due to family illness. This home and surroundings is a work of love.

This is truly a one-of-a-kind property that must be viewed to be appreciated.
