Rosarito Beach Mayor Hugo Torres Visits Southern California on Work Tour

MAYOR TORRES VISITS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ON WORK TOUR

Rosarito Beach.- Concerned about reviving the economy, politics and social development in the city, Rosarito mayor Hugo Torres, along with other mayors from Baja California, visited Rancho Santiago in Santa Ana, California,  where he spoke about the main objective for 2009 which is to counteract the bad publicity and image that some local US media in the past year have made.

He will continue the tour Thursday, January 15 visiting Anaheim , California , where he will meet with various business sectors such as economic development, tourism and security. Mayor Torres will do presentations on local TV stations and will participate in a work table of economic development and marketing strategies.

One of the main points is to handle public safety, Mayor Torres mentioned that some media abroad is still repeating notes of violent acts occurred in 2006; hence the need to publicize that Rosarito is a secure place.

The mayor stressed that although there is internal war among organized crime, ordinary citizens and tourists are not the target, therefore not at risk when visiting Rosarito.

The tour also includes work meetings with entrepreneurs and developers to seek further investment in order to enable economic growth for the city.

Mayor Hugo Torres said he will continue promoting the city on work tours during January, February and March of 2009, declared as the year of "Unity and Hope."
