What's Going on in Rosarito Beach!
Rosarito Welcomes Fresh Lobster Season & So Much More

From the start of its famous fresh lobster season to the new motocross track to off-road races to great surfing plus so much more, Rosarito offers a cornucopia of wonderful activities this time of year.

Now that it's October, Rosarito welcomes Fresh Lobster Season. And there are plenty of ways to help commemorate the delicious spiny crustacean that helped make this seaside town 20 miles south of San Diego famous. The best way, of course, is to eat some.

It all began around 1950 in Puerto Nuevo, then a small fishing village about 12 miles south of downtown. Back then, the village was known by its Newport (Puerto Nuevo) cigarette billboard as much as anything.

Then fishermen's wives began preparing delicious feasts of fried lobster, fresh tortillas, beans and rice. The rest, as they say, is history.

Now more than 30 restaurants line quaint Puerto Nuevo, whose name is synonymous with lobster worldwide. But you'll find delicious fresh lobster in many styles in many Rosarito restaurants this time of year, from an exquisitely simple lobster burrito, to a simply exquisite lobster thermidor.

However you like (or should we say love) your lobster, please join us during Fresh Lobster Season.

Surf's Always Up
In Rosarito Beach

Rosarito might be best known for its lobster. But with famous spots like K38, surfing is a close second. From Sept. 12 to 14 the city hosted the Cup of The Americas Surfing Pro-Am at the Rosarito Beach Hotel Pier.

Seventy of the best surfers and body boarders of Mexico, Latin America and the U.S. competed for $8,000 in prizes, and Dylan Sourthworth was the big winner.

Now's a great time to bring your board down. The waves are almost always breaking, the campgrounds aren't as crowded and hotels are offering great deals. You might want to bring your bike and definitely your appetite for lobster, too.

Opening of City's
First Outdoor
Motocross Track

In this seaside community where one million people annually go to get away from the pressures of life and relax on a pristine beach, sip a margarita or enjoy one of the many outdoor sports activities available, a new venue is being offered.
It's Rosarito's newest addition to fun activities; a new outdoor motocross track, 1.7 mile long, with very safe jumps, tabletops, good berms, and without a doubt the greatest ocean view of any track on the west coast of North America.
The Grand Opening of La Playa Motocross was Saturday August 30th, Labor Day weekend, at 12 noon, with famous motocross personalities like multi-award winning champions and Motorcycle Hall of Famers Rick Johnson and Danny LaPorte, who have both confirmed their presence for the inaugural day festivities.
