Binational Reception Informational Meeting 8/26

BINATIONAL ECONOMIC PLANNING AND REGIONAL ISSUES TO BE FOCUS OF INFORMAL MEETING WITH OFFICIALS FROM TIJUANA , ROSARITO AND CHULA VISTA

Baja California’s representative from the Mexican Ministry of the Economy, and the U.S. Consul General from Tijuana will meet with Mayors and officials from Tijuana , Rosarito and Chula Vista , as well as regional business and civic leaders, during the second “Binational Reception” informational meeting on August 26th, 2008. 

The Tijuana Conventions & Visitors Bureau (COTUCO), the City of Rosarito, and Baja California’s office for Mexico’s Secretariat of the Economy are hosting an informal, “Binational Business Reception ” at Baja California’s Olympic Training Center (located on the north side of the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California).  Topics to be addressed include the Ministry of Economy’s priorities for the region, binational economic opportunities for Chula Vista and Tijuana-Rosarito, and border crossings. Transportation to the event will be available to media from the Chula Vista City Hall (to the event and back) The reception will include food from Tijuana’s La Diferencia restaurant, as well as local Baja California beer and wines.

WHAT: The Second “Binational Reception” event, promoting binational issues and collaboration.

WHEN: 4pm – 6pm, Tuesday, August 26th, 2008  (Bus to/from event will depart from Chula Vista City Hall at 3:15pm.; return time approximately 7:00pm-7:30pm depending on border wait).

WHERE: Olympic Training Center at Tijuana ’s Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC)

WHO & VISUALS:  Participants in the event will include: Cheryl Cox, Mayor of Chula Vista; Alejandro Monraz, Baja California representative for Mexico ’s Secretariat of the Economy;  Hugo Torres, Mayor of Playas de Rosarito,  and additional business, tourism, and civic leaders from Chula Vista , Tijuana and Rosarito.
