Overseas Vote Foundation by Inside Mexico

Don't check civic duty at the border

IMX Photo Contest

The whole world is watching the American presidential election and Americans themselves are participating in record numbers. If you are an expatriate American living, don't check civic duty at the border. Put down the limonada and get involved:

Start with the Overseas Vote Foundation. This is the best and most complete site offering nonpartisan voter services for US citizens overseas. If you want to vote in a primary, get your absentee ballot for the general election, or ask any other question, the foundation can help. Their help desk will answer any question within 24 hours – believe us it works – we've tried! Visit: www.overseasvotefoundation.org

Also, this year expatriate Democrats will be able to vote in an online Global Presidential Primary to choose the Democratic nominee for president. Vote online from Feb. 5 – 12, 2008. Rather go in person? Voting centers will be set up in Ajijic, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, and Mazatlan on Feb.5. Visit www.mexicodemocrats.org to find voting centers or register to vote online.

Republicans will have to vote in state primaries since expatriates don't get representative delegates at the GOP convention. But that's something to start lobbying the party for! For party information check out: www.republicansabroad.org
