Thinking of Buying a Home or Condo in Mexico...

but still aren't sure?  Have you found some information regarding purchasing in Mexico but still have questions?  Maybe you'd like to know about the real estate market in Mexico, particularly Baja California - Is it in the same state as it is in the U.S. or Canada?

Maybe you've been wondering if it's possible to finance a home here, and, if so, what are the points?  down payment?  how long does it take?

Can you purchase through an escrow service as in the U.S.?

I've researched online quite exhaustively and one of the things I've noticed about all the 'Mexico Real Estate' pages is that there is no mention of the protocol for obtaining homeowners insurance. I get the distinct impression that this may be 'the catch' of what otherwise seems to be a great opportunity. Could you please shed some light on this for me?

Your comment is a good one Matt.  The fact is that Home Owner's Insurance is available for all homes here in Mexico.  The process for obtaining a policy is identical to that which exists in the United States.  All coverages available in the U.S. are also available in Mexico.  The only difference is your cost in obtaining HO's Insurance.  The cost for a Home Owner's policy is approximately half the cost in the U.S.

With Title Insurance and Home Owner's Insurance, your investment is secure should you decide to purchase in Mexico.
