13TH ANNUAL MEXICAN POSADA AT ENSENADA'S CENTRO ARTESANAL Wednesday, Dec 16th
Come and celebrate a traditional Mexican Posada on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Ensenada's Centro Artesanal. This is an excellent opportunity for the entire family to enjoy the folklore, music and food of the Mexican culture during the Christmas season. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. The heart of the posada is a beautiful candlelight procession at 6 p.m. that everyone is invited to join. Accompanied with songs and litanies led by musician and master of ceremonies Sextos Varela, the procession represents Mary and Joseph's journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of shelter. After the procession, the young and young-at-heart can participate in a traditional, fun-filled piñata-breaking party and dance to Latin music.
During the entire celebration from 5-9 p.m., there will be a colorful arts & crafts fair and the sale of traditional Mexican Christmas foods, sweets and drinks like pozole, tamales, buñuelos, champurrados and calientitos. Admission is free.
Ensenada's Centro Artesanal (Artisan Center) is located on Blvd. Lázaro Cárdenas (Blvd. Costero) & Av. Castillo, kitty-corner to Hotel Misión Santa Isabel. For more information contact organizer Adalberto Pérez Meillón at Galería Pérez Meillón in Centro Artesanal, tel. (646) 175-7848 or e-mail:
