More Than 450 Athletes Competed In Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo Half-Marathon
ROSARITO BEACH, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO---A total of 456 athletes competed in Saturday’s Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo half-marathon, the fifth running of the event along Northern Baja’s coastline.
Winners in the men’s division were Justus Cherop from Kenya, 1:05:44; Raymundo Torres, from Tijuana 1:06:03; and Hector Hernandez, from Tijuana 1:11:00.
In the women’s division: Mary Akor, Los Angeles from L.A., 1:23:23; Valentina Dominguez, Tijuana 1:23:56; and María Rodriguez, Mazatlan, 1:26:53.
In the wheelchair division: Jessie Gil, from Tijuana, 54:13; Sergio Zepeda, Tijuana 1:16:53; Oscar Perez, from Tijuana 1:26:53.
Management of the event was provided by the State Association of Athletics of Baja California and the event is endorsed by the Mexican Federation of Athletics.
"This event is a tradition in Rosarito and this was another great race another with a large of number of participants,” said Gerardo Medina, president of the State Association of Athletics.
