Friends of the Library Meeting
Happy New Year Everyone! I hope your holidays were pleasant and fulfilling.  Now that the holidays are over please join us in planning for our future projects for the Rosarito libraries.
To date we have been renovating the Primo Tapia branch and it is beautiful.  We have painted the walls, improved the restrooms, repaired the electrical wiring, tiled some floors, provided new furniture and planned the landscaping.  We also have received three new doors (one outside and two restroom doors) that need to be installed.  A new librarian has been assigned to work from 9 am to 4 pm.  His name is Miguel and he seems very interested in and appreciative of our efforts.  I've asked him to provide us with a "wish list" of needed (or wanted) improvements and/or materials.
In December several of us met with the woman in charge of all of the libraries, Esparanza, and Raul, the coordinator of the Cemac library.  We discussed the needs of the various branches and plans for the promotion of the libraries and their programs.  Both of them are very enthusiastic about their new jobs and want to work with us to enhance the libraries and their programs.
Please join us on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Cemac for our planning session -- then join us at 3 p.m. for the first of the our foreign film movies, "The Bicycle Thief", a 1949 film directed by Vittorio DeSica about postwar poverty, stolen hope for a job and desperation.  It was once rated the best firm ever!   All this for a $2.00 dollar donation.
Hope to see you there!
