Rosarito Lobster Fest Moves to the Grand Baja Resort

Rosarito Lobster Fest Gets New Look On Oct. 20

ROSARITO BEACH, BAJA CALIFORNIA---The festival celebrating the crustacean that helped make this tourist town 30 miles south of San Diego world-famous will get an exciting new look this year.

The special edition of the Fiesta de Langosta (Lobster Festival) will be from 1 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 20. It moves from the famed Puerto Nuevo Lobster Village, just next door to the Grand Baja Resort, with greatly expanded activities.

Tickets are available by calling 664-685-3031 (in Ensenada ) or 661-613-1532 or 661-614-1454 (in Rosarito).

The $55 ticket for the event includes a lobster dinner, three glasses of wine from Ensenada ’s famed Guadalupe Valley wine country, dessert, dancing, music and a performance of traditional Mexican folkloric ballet.

A festival tent for 500 people will be erected and appointed with fine table settings. The Grand Baja is offering special rates to guests who want to stay at the elegant oceanfront hotel during the event.

Rosarito Beach is famous for its lobster and Puerto Nuevo-style. preparation.  Because of its popularity, what once was a small fishing village a few miles south of downtown Rosarito, now has 40 restaurants featuring the choice crustacean.

Its popularity began when fishermen’s wives prepared simple but delicious lobster dinners for their returning husband’s and visitors who came down to charter a day of fishing in the ocean waters off the village, where lobster was plentiful.

This year’s Fiesta de Langosta also will feature several of the leading wineries from Guadalupe Valley . The lobster festival is a wonderful opportunity to sample some of the area’s best food and drink, in a festive atmosphere,
