Rosarito Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau Honors Expat Volunteer Greeters
ROSARITO BEACH ---On Sept. 13 the Rosarito Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau honored 15 expatriate residents of the city who served as volunteer greeters for tourists this past summer.
The 15 were recognized at a luncheon at Las Rocas Resort and Spa, with ConVis President Cesar Rivera presiding.
Certificates were presented to Bev Gammon, Bob and Vicky Chantlos, Eileen Romero, Tom and Linda Maher, Nasir Shah, Peter Fowler, Thomas Reeve and Ken Bell.
Not present at the luncheon but also awarded certificates of recognition were Bernice Myers, Charles Howe, David Holt (MLS Baja), Patrick Mullen and Shirley Ferguson.
The greeters helped ConVis staff distribute material and answer visitor questions throughout summer weekends at an information table on Boulevard Benito Juarez.
“The expatriates living here are our best ambassadors to those visiting from outside this area,” Rivera said in expressing thanks to the greeters.
The volunteer greeters program was established this year by ConVis working with the city’s new Tourism Advisory Board, which includes representatives of Rosarito’s major expatriate organizations.
The city estimates 14,000 expatriates among its 140,000 population.
Future plans call for expanding the greeters program to other activities in ConVis and the city’s Foreign Residents Attention Office.
