Rosarito’s Steak & Lobster

Festival Set For September 23

ROSARITO BEACH ---This seaside city’s seventh annual Steak & Lobster Festival is scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23 on the grounds of Baja’s landmark Rosarito Beach Hotel.

“We will be featuring the food that made us famous in all the world: lobster,” said Ricardo Moreno, president of CANIRAC, the Rosarito Beach association of restaurants.

Twenty restaurants will participate, each offering its own variation on the steak and lobster dish. Five vineyards from the nearby Baja California wine country also will be featured.

In addition, the famed folkloric ballet from the state of Veracruz and the outstanding band El Mariachi del Sol will perform.

“This will be our biggest festival ever,” Moreno said of the event which attracted 2,500 people last year. It is a very popular with families, he said, and is one of seven events the 175-member restaurant association sponsors each year.

For $20, people can purchase a ticket at the event for a half lobster, a prime steak and four drinks. Group packages and $18 advance tickets are available by calling CANIRAC at 661-612-0700 or 661-612-5302.

More details also are available at www.caniracrosarito.com or www.rosarito.org.

“This is one of Rosarito’s premier events and we’re expecting this year’s festival to be exceptional,” said Cesar Rivera, president of the Rosarito Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Rosarito, which includes the world-famous Puerto Nuevo village and many other exceptional restaurants, is internationally known for its lobster dishes.
