Mariachi Festival Spectacular, Baja Book Festival & Lobster Season Highlight Rosarito Beach October

        Fall is upon us and Rosarito Beach is ready for a full season of events! The month of October is packed with activities for people of all ages. Get ready for the Mariachi Festival, the Baja Book Festival, round two of La Playa Motocross series, Salsa Congress with Machito Ruiz, Festival de la Vendimia, Puerto Nuevo Lobster Festival, Art Fest, Alex de Pue and Miguel de Hoyos in concert, and the Halloween Dance.
       Rosarito Beach is a popular resort spot just 30 miles south of San Diego, where there are great activities for all ages, all interests and all budgets. Throw in some of the hottest deals and lowest prices in years, and you won't find a cooler place anywhere than this popular Baja resort.

       Rosarito Mariachi Festival, October 2nd-3rd: Bring the whole family along and enjoy the Saturday evening Espectacular featuring the Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Divas and Friends; Team Mexico vs. Team USA competing during each day (in both mariachi and folkloric dancing) for bragging rights and big cash prizes. This event takes place at the Rosarito Beach Hotel, so come and enjoy a beautiful ocean-front venue. Not only will it be a spectacular show, it also benefits the Rosarito Boys & Girls Club, so you can hear great mariachi music, have fun and help kids have a better life all at the same time.         Baja Book Festival, October 9th: Not just for the bookworm; come together at Joanna Jones Galeria y Café in Cantamar for a one-day cultural and lifestyle event showcasing authors and publishers of both English and Spanish language books and publications.          Salsa Congress with Machito Ruiz, October 16th: Get ready to show off your dance moves at the Rosarito Beach Hotel with dance sessions being held from 1pm - 6pm. Following is the Dance and Party going all night from 9pm - 2am. Dance the night away to Caribbean music, salsa, bachata, cumbia and more.          XVII Puerto Nuevo Lobster Festival, October 17th: It's fresh lobster season and Puerto Nuevo is serving up these tasty crustaceans their own special way. Along with all the food and drink will be live music and the wonderful culture of Mexico. RETIREMENT TANGO at REAL DEL MAR

The Rosarito Theatre Guild does it again! "Another thoroughly enjoyable evening of dining and entertainment" was the consensus of all attendees.

After enjoying a gourmet meal in the Rincón San Roman Restaurant at Real del Mar, guests moved on to the shaded patio where a stage was set to present the Rosarito Premier of "Retirement Tango". Written by William Shuman, directed by Craig Schaefer with readings by Bill Shuman & Joann Mariano, these talented individuals bring to the production many years of combined theatrical experience.

The setting is the back porch of Max (a 74 year old actor) and Maxine (a 68 year old actress) Aronofsky's cottage in a retirement community in Florida. The premise of the play is Max's yearning to go back to the glory days of touring while realistic Maxine - not so much. The dialogue between the two was something the attending, and mostly geriatric audience, could easily relate to. The lines were funny and appropriate, yet the audience could also feel the pathos the author was trying to bring to the play.

While the first two performances are sold out, there are still tickets available for the Sunday afternoon matinee. The complete package is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in our beautiful laid back Baja. Don't miss it - you won't be sorry!
